in santa rosa. at noon the warm upstarts. most of us reaching the 70s. the city will be at 87. at 4:00, a bit breezy and that's the sea breeze for the inland areas. coming up, a hot weekend forecast. possibly seeing triple-digit temperatures. >> getting warm out there. new this morning, it's a tense morning for families forced out by a new gas leak. this comes on the two-week anniversary of the san bruno explosion. christie smith is live in orinda with what's going on out there this morning. christie? >> good morning. i have new information for you. i just got off the phone with the city manager who is on scene and told me that pg&e capped the gas leak. natural gas is not leaking anymore in the downtown area. it's still not a clear scene. here's what we know. it was about 11:15 last night and an outside contractor was work on a paving project near mo raga way and a back hoe hit a gas line. there were reports that this was a six-inch gas line and neighbors in about a dozen homes were evacuated, but it was actually a two-inch gas line. people were allowed back home quickly. for now, n

to "meet the press." here in new york. congressman pence, glad to be with us on the breezy set this morning. we'll get to that. i want to get to the pledge and the thought that this is new ideas or not. i want to start on the narrow issue of tax cuts. the big tax cut debate that's part of the midterm campaign, we know congressman van hollen that the senate has kicked off the decision, kicked it back, i should say, to after the elections to take on whether or not the bush tax cuts should be extended. what will the house do on this important question? >> well, david, the house will vote before these tax cuts expire at the end of the year. whether we vote before the election or not is something we'll take a look at. i want to be very clear as to what the stakes are here. because what the republicans have said is that they're going to hold tax relief for 98% of the american people hostage until they can get permanent tax breaks for the top 2%. even though that would blow a $700 billion hole in the deficit, something that would be added to the credit cards of our children and grandchildren, and

morning. thanks for joining us. i'm laura garcia cannon. >> and i'm brent cannon. the time now is straight up 5:00. >> time to get to rob with a look at our forecast for today. >> good morning to you. we have low clouds, even misty skies in parts of the bay area. san jose just main ly the low clouds. 58 degrees, northwest wind at 6. breakfast time everybody stuck with low clouds and they'll hang out on the coastline. san francisco about 65 today. 70 in oakland, 78 in san jose. big changes, though, showing up in your seven-day forecast. a look at that in a few minutes. with a look at your morning drive, here's mike. >> you showed a beautiful shot of downtown san jose. very little traffic downtown itself. getting there, we do have an incident northbound 101. we have a lot of construction going on. continuing for that repaving project on the capital expressway offramp. it's closed until 6:00 a.m. use tully road as your alternate until that's picked up at 6:00. keep that in mind. we have no major slowing throughout the southbound freeways. i'll show you sinole coming up. >>> cal graduate sarah
